We're proud to announce the remarkable impact of the
SMS-Based Learning Program, implemented from 2020 to 2022 as part of the
MasterCard Foundation's COVID-19 Recovery and Resilience program. This
initiative, undertaken by Education Development Consult in collaboration with
Eneza Education, has been instrumental in delivering emergency support and
strengthening institutions in the face of the pandemic's social and economic
challenges.
Through the "Ask a Teacher" feature, over 3
million learners in Rwanda have gained access to curriculum-related support by
posing questions to our pool of dedicated teachers via SMS short-code 2910 on
the MTN and Airtel Tigo networks.
Furthermore, we're proud to have digitized the National
Curriculum for upper primary and lower secondary education, making it
accessible to learners via mobile phones at zero cost. With over one million
learners benefiting from 8,000 lessons and quizzes, we've empowered students to
continue their learning journey anytime, anywhere.
This initiative exemplifies our commitment to leveraging
technology to ensure equitable access to quality education, especially during
times of crisis. As we continue to navigate the challenges of the pandemic, we
remain dedicated to supporting learners, educators, and institutions in
building resilience and fostering learning opportunities for all.
