Welcome to the Teacher Capacity
Development Department
Empowering Teachers, School Leaders
Transforming Education.
The Ready Teacher,
Effective Teaching Initiative,
implemented from July 2021 to June 2022 in collaboration with the Rwanda Basic
Education Board (REB). This transformative initiative aimed to enhance the
capacity of 1000 teachers, empowering them to deliver curriculum expectations
with excellence.
Under this project, we've achieved remarkable
milestones:
- valuable
resources for teachers as they prepare to deliver engaging and impactful
lessons.
- Uploaded
500 model lesson plans and teacher tips for effective teaching to EDC's
platform, ensuring easy accessibility for educators across Rwanda and 1000
teachers accessed the lessons.
- Raised
awareness among teachers through strategic messaging, highlighting the
importance of effective teaching practices and the availability of
resources to support their professional development.
Throughout the process of content and lesson plan
preparation, we've integrated cutting-edge teaching pedagogies, including
Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Gender Responsiveness, and Play-Based
approaches.
By embracing these updated pedagogies, we're not
only equipping teachers with essential tools but also fostering inclusive and
dynamic learning environments where every student can thrive.
Education Development Consult will continue to
initiate the continuous innovations and committed to improving the capacity of
Rwanda's educators as they continue to inspire and empower the next generation
of learners.
Comprehensive Sexuality Education
Training program with UNESCO
We're proud to announce our collaboration with the
Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) and UNESCO in delivering comprehensive
training on Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) to Teacher Training College
(TTC) tutors.
This initiative, undertaken to align with the
Ministry of Education's National School Health Policy and Strategic Plan and
the Ministry of Health's Family Planning and Adolescents Sexual and
Reproductive Health Strategic Plan, marks a significant step towards promoting
holistic education and well-being for Rwandan youth.
Through our joint efforts, we've meticulously
designed and implemented training modules to equip TTC tutors with the
knowledge and skills needed to integrate CSE effectively into their teaching
practices. Building on UNESCO's regional training on sexuality education and previous
partnership efforts, we're dedicated to ensuring that the content and delivery
of CSE meet the highest standards and reflect the latest evidence and emerging
issues.
Our training approach encompasses both online and
offline resources, including scripted lesson plans, to enhance the quality and
accessibility of CSE instruction. Under the guidance of REB's CSE master
trainers, selected educational trainers underwent Training of Trainers (ToT)
sessions, enabling them to lead the dissemination of CSE knowledge to TTC
tutors across Rwanda.
As we move forward, we remain committed to
supporting the professional development of educators and fostering a safe,
supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students. Together,
let's empower teachers with the tools and resources they need to promote
positive health outcomes and empower the next generation of leaders
