We are very happy to share the success of the Book
Development Project, implemented in close collaboration with the Rwanda
Ministry of Education through the Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB). From May
2021 to July 2022, this transformative initiative has reshaped literacy
instruction for learners aged 4 to 9 across Rwanda.
Through extensive consultation with REB and development
partners, we identified key themes crucial for fostering effective literacy
instruction. The consultation findings highlighted the urgent need for books
addressing:
Under the leadership of Education Development Consult (EDC),
we took action to address these needs. Together, we developed and curated a
remarkable collection of 139 titles in English, Kinyarwanda, and French,
meticulously aligned with curriculum expectations and designed to ignite the
love for learning in young minds.
We're proud to announce that these titles have been approved
by the Rwanda Basic Education Board, paving the way for their integration into
classrooms and communities across the country.
As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment
to advancing literacy and empowering the next generation of leaders, thinkers,
and change makers.
