Education Development Consult has successfully completed the
Ejoheza Area Programme baseline evaluation and Geographical Information System
(GIS) Mapping in Nyamasheke district. This groundbreaking Evaluation,
undertaken on behalf of World Vision Rwanda, marks a significant step towards
understanding and improving the lives of communities in the Ejoheza
area_Nyamasheke District
The purpose of this comprehensive study was to:
a) Baseline the economic resilience and livelihood outcome
indicators of 108,849 individuals from 23,662 households.
b) Benchmark outcome indicators of child care, child
participation, protection, and education for boys and girls within families and
communities.
c) Measure the level of access to water, hygiene, and
sanitation in the Ejoheza community, particularly in the most vulnerable
families.
d) Baseline gender-based needs priorities,
vulnerabilities, and the root causes of upholding negative gender and social
norms and practices.
e) Identify and map all WASH, Health, Education, and
Livelihood-related infrastructures in the Ejoheza AP operation area.
Our study involved a comprehensive approach, including
anthropometric measurements, and utilized various data collection tools:
Caregivers Survey: Cluster sampling for households from 154
villages, totaling 600 households.
This Evaluation represents World Vision, Government and its
partners’ commitment to understanding community needs and facilitating
sustainable development in Rwanda.
