We are happy to share the success of the USAID-funded LIBROs Research discussions in Rwanda! On March 10th, 2023, stakeholders from the University of Rwanda, the University of Notre Dame, and Education Development Consult convened at the Education Development Consult's country office in Kigali to discuss strategies for enhancing the book industry and supply chain.

Representatives like Dr. Vincent Manirakiza and Aimee Daniella ABANE from the University of Rwanda, and Jeongmin Lee from the University of Notre Dame, along with Mr. Cyprien Bunani, CEO of Education Development Consult, engaged in discussions centered on developing inclusive books to cater to the diverse needs of learners, guided by universal design for learning principles.

A highlight of the meeting was the demonstration by Mr. Bunani showcasing EDC's work in developing over 100 supplementary reading materials in Kinyarwanda, English, and French. These materials aim to assist all learners, including those with visual and hearing difficulties, and have been approved by the Rwanda Basic Education Board for use in all schools across the country.

Furthermore, these books are expected to contribute significantly to improving English proficiency among learners, given its status as the medium of instruction at all levels of education in Rwanda.

We're proud to be part of this initiative that is making education more accessible and inclusive for all learners in Rwanda. Let's continue to work together towards building a brighter future through education!
