We are happy to announce that Education Development Consult (EDC) has been entrusted by VSO Rwanda to spearhead the monitoring, evaluation, and learning efforts for the Twigire Mumikino Rwanda (TMR) project.

Over the past year, EDC has been hard at work, and we're proud to share that we've successfully completed the baseline evaluation of the TMR project in January 2024, spanning all 30 districts of Rwanda.

EDC’s comprehensive evaluation involved:

  • Sampling 372 schools
  • Engaging with 900 early childhood learners and their parents
  • Collaborating with 372 school leaders
  • Facilitating 15 Focus Group Discussions. But that's not all! As part of EDC’s commitment to excellence, EDC’s experts in research utilized the International Development and Early Learning Assessment (IDELA) to measure the learning outcomes of the learners, ensuring a holistic understanding of their progress.
  • Backgroung of the project
  • Twigire Mumikino Rwanda (TMR), also known as 'Let's Learn Through Play Rwanda' – a groundbreaking four-year initiative by Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and generously funded by the LEGO Foundation (LF).

TMR is on a mission to revolutionize Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Rwanda through the power of play-based learning.  Project goal? To ensure that every child aged 3-6 in Rwanda experiences high-quality, sustained learning through play, setting the stage for a lifetime of engagement and discovery.

With TMR, VSO is not just transforming classrooms – VSO is empowering communities! Over the next four years from 2019, VSO aim to impact the lives of over 250,000 children, 2,000 teachers, 600 school leaders, and 145,000 parents across all 30 Districts of Rwanda.

But that's not all! TMR is committed to driving systemic change, advocating for the integration of play-based learning into national ECE policies and programs.
